    Post About Forum Registration & Gmail.com / Yahoo.com Users

    Greetings Everyone:

In an effort to prevent abuse, keep our community safe for everyone, and free from bad actors we have decided that effective January 09, 2020, new users who wish to use our forum (including registering for new accounts or submitting contact us forms) will no longer be able to complete these actions using email addresses ending in @gmail.com and @yahoo.com This is not a deliberate attack to keep out legitimate users who choose to use these particular email providers, but rather to keep the community safe and free from abuse and malicious actors. We have determined a high volume of spam has been coming from these two email providers and thus the next logical step is to block addresses from submitting the stuff.

We determined that while this policy will effect legitimate users during registration or attempting to contact a site admin via the form, this is a minor inconvenience as compared to forcing all new users into global moderation for the first 2 weeks or other such inconveniences that would slow down admin and mod response times to legitimate site issues.

While moderation is a great tool for dealing with abusive users and those who are spamming the site, it's only good after the registration form is submitted. and doesn't stop bad actors from submitting bogus contact us forms thus taking up valuable staff time.

tip Important Note: You can STILL use your account as normal if you registered using a yahoo.com or gmail.com PRIOR TO January 09, 2020.

warning CAUTION: If you change your email address via the UserCP or update your profile, you might receive a message that the email address is banned. please abandon your account edit and contact an admin by forum PM to fix this.

info Fix: If you wish to use your existing @gmail.com or @yahoo.com email address during the registration process please use a different email address and once you complete the registration process send a forum PM to an admin who can change it to your preferred email address in the control panel.
